Why did we create this page?
We created this page to give our clients a clear, detailed overview of the grooming services we offer, what each session includes, and how to book with us. Whether you’re a new dog owner or a returning client, this page is here to help you understand our process, build trust, and make booking easier. We want you to feel confident that your dog is in experienced, caring hands every time they visit Puppy Paradise.
Q&A
When should I bring my puppy for the very first vist?
The best time for a puppy’s first visit to the groomer is usually around 12 to 16 weeks of age, or after they’ve had their second round of vaccinations.

The first visit is absolutely crucial as it serves as a gentle introduction to the world of pampering. This is especially important because your dog will be visiting the groomer regularly, and it’s essential for them to enjoy the process, feel safe, lovable, and comfortable.
During the first visit, it’s always better to do less rather than more, as it’s already a big experience for a puppy. Therefore, it’s important to bring your puppy at a very young age, for a short visit and a wee trim called a “puppy cut” (you can read more about this in the Puppy Cut section under Services). After 4-5 weeks, it will be time for their first full groom. This gradual introduction is key to helping your dog get used to the grooming process slowly and comfortably.
How often should my dog be groomed?
The ideal grooming frequency depends on your dog’s breed, coat type, and lifestyle. On average:
- Long-haired breeds (like Shih Tzus or Cockapoos) should be groomed every 4–6 weeks.
- Short-haired breeds may only need grooming every 8–12 weeks.
We’re happy to recommend a grooming schedule tailored to your dog’s needs!

Regular brushing at home helps extend the time between appointments.
Some time ago, I recorded and uploaded a short video on how to properly brush your dog at home.

How much does grooming cost?
The price depends on your dog’s size, behavior, and coat condition.
While there is a general price range for each breed, these factors can affect the final cost slightly, as we tailor our grooming services to meet your dog’s specific needs.
Can I stay with my dog during the grooming appointment?
For safety and focus, we kindly ask owners to drop off their dogs and return once the grooming is complete. Dogs often settle better without their owner present, allowing us to work calmly and efficiently.
What if my dog is anxious or has never been groomed before?
We specialize in working with nervous or first-time dogs. Our approach is gentle, patient, and paced to suit your dog’s comfort level. For very anxious pets, we recommend starting with a shorter session like a Mini Groom to build trust over time.

It’s important to remember that every puppy is unique. Some may need extra time to adjust to the new environment, unfamiliar smells, and sounds of the grooming salon. Because of this, each puppy receives a tailored grooming plan based on their coat condition, behavior, and comfort level. In some cases, this may require longer sessions, which can slightly affect the final price. Our goal is always to ensure a positive and stress-free experience.
What should I do before my grooming appointment?
Please make sure your dog has had a chance to “go to the toilet” and isn’t overly hungry or tired. If they have any health issues, allergies, or special care requirements, let us know in advance so we can tailor the session accordingly.
